At present, some TPR toys in the market usually need high transparency to make luminous toys. How can we produce TPR with high transparency? Based on six years of working experience in the industry, the author shares the following:
1. Hardness
Usually in the range of 0~60A, the hardness is too high and the transparency of the material decreases. The SBS-based TPR has a hardness not higher than 70A and a good transparency.
2. Composition
Hydrogenation degree of oil, hydrogenation degree of SEBS, etc. The higher the degree of hydrogenation, the higher the transparency of the overall material.
3. Substrate
The stability of transparency of SEBS substrate is higher than that of SBS substrate. Due to the poor yellowing resistance of SBS base materials, the materials are easy to yellow after being left for one or two months.
4. The influence of background color
Due to the hydrogenation degree of the oil, the material is easy to yellow after being put for a period of time. As foreseen, a small amount of blue pigment can be added to the material first, and the background color of TPR material can be adjusted to be slightly blue. I feel better about transparency.
5. substrate selection
If there is no requirement for aging resistance and yellowing resistance, and oil injection and painting are required for post-processing, TPR material of SBS substrate is recommended.
