TPE-coated PP is quite common when TPE is coated with composite rubber. This article mainly talks about some basic knowledge and common problems of TPE coated PP.
1.TPE Encapsulation and PP Encapsulation Firmness
Generally speaking, TPE|TPR is coated with PP, and there is no problem in bonding firmness. Because the SP (solubility parameter) of TPE is 7.2, and the SP of PP is 7.5. According to the principle of chemical similarity compatibility, the adhesive fusion is good and the encapsulation effect is excellent.
2. Analysis of reasons why 2.TPE cannot wrap PP.
One is the choice of materials. TPE is a composite blend, and the TPE that can wrap PP should be the TPE of SEBS+PP blending system. If SEBS+TPU or SBS+GPPS blending system is selected, such TPE cannot wrap PP material.
The second is the molding process and product structure. In the process parameters, the most important factor is temperature. Generally, the TPE overmolding temperature is 180-200 degrees. However, for some wear-resistant and thick rubber coated products, such as casters, a higher molding temperature is required (the temperature can reach 250 degrees).
3. Detailed requirements for TPE materials
In addition to meeting the basic bonding requirements, the performance of TPE will be different for different product applications. For example, some tool handles require scratch resistance, good hand feel and even oil resistance. Some light-colored high-end products even have yellowing resistance and UV resistance requirements; Some food, tableware, kitchenware and other products have special requirements for environmental protection food grade.

Appearance: transparent or solid particles, good color matching;
Hardness: 20~95A(Shore);
Specific gravity: 0.88 ~ 1.3;
Tensile strength: 3-15 MPa;
Elongation at break: 200~900%.
5. Application of 5.TPE Encapsulated PP in Major Industries
Tool handles, sports equipment, luggage accessories, caster products, kitchenware and tableware, etc.
