Meltblown cloth is the core material of the mask. Meltblown cloth mainly uses polypropylene as the main raw material, and the fiber diameter can reach 1-5 microns. With many voids, fluffy structure and good wrinkle resistance, superfine fibers with unique capillary structure increase the number and surface area of fibers per unit area, thus making meltblown cloth have good filterability, shielding, thermal insulation and oil absorption. Can be used in the fields of air, liquid filtering materials, isolation materials, absorbing materials, mask materials, thermal insulation materials, oil absorbing materials, wiping cloths and the like.
On March 8, 2020, the SASAC of the State Council introduced to the public that in the face of a blowout in demand for meltblown cloth, the SASAC of the State Council had instructed relevant central enterprises to speed up the construction of production lines, put them into production as soon as possible, expand the market supply of meltblown cloth, and provide protection for epidemic prevention and control. SASAC's Special Working Group on Medical Supplies said that by 2400 hours on March 6, the central enterprises had produced about 26 tons of meltblown cloth on that day. With the completion and operation of the new production line, the output of meltblown cloth is expected to increase significantly in the coming week. SASAC and central enterprises will continue to step up efforts to ensure the supply of medical materials such as raw materials for the production of medical masks.

Meltblown cloth is the core material of mask. Medical mask and N95 mask are composed of spunbond layer, meltblown layer and spunbond layer, wherein both spunbond layer and meltblown layer are composed of polypropylene PP material [2].

Meltblown cloth filter material is made up of polypropylene superfine fibers randomly distributed and bonded together, with white, smooth and soft appearance. The fiber fineness of the material is 0.5-1.0μm m. The random distribution of fibers provides more thermal bonding opportunities between fibers, thus making meltblown gas filter material have larger specific surface area and higher porosity (≥75%). Through high-pressure electret filtration efficiency, the product has the characteristics of low resistance, high efficiency, high dust content and the like.
