Performance analysis of elastomer TPE/TPR toy materials

Different materials can be made into different products. For toys commonly used by children, TPE/TPR materials are selected, which can be referenced from the perspective of physical properties and environmental protection of TPE/TPR materials, and the color diversity, hardness and hand feel can be adjusted according to the products. The surface of TPE materials can be silk-screened, especially with good environmental protection characteristics, which conforms to the existing relevant environmental protection test labels. The performance analysis of TPE toy materials is as follows:
1. Environmental Protection Performance
Although most TPE materials meet ROHS and EN71-3 testing standards for environmental protection, the testing standards for toy products are still different in different countries or regions. Some requirements do not contain PAHs, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, NP (nonylphenol), etc., and some requirements do not contain SVHC substances of high concern specified by REACH. This requires full consideration of environmental protection requirements when compounding TPE compound.
2. Good screen printing performance of oil spray painting
Most toy products have the requirements of spray painting and silk screen printing. In order to obtain good screen printing effect (paint does not fall off when sprayed), the matching of TPE glue and ink paint is very important, and appropriate paint should be selected according to the characteristics of TPE.
3. Cracking Resistance of Soft Toys
For some soft toys with very soft hardness, attention should be paid to selecting suitable TPE materials to prevent cracking after processing. In addition, cracking caused by stress shrinkage can be reduced through optimization and perfection of molding process.
4. Excellent color matching performance
Soft rubber toy products are mostly of bright and varied colors, and have higher requirements for color matching of TPE materials. A qualified TPE raw material should have good color pink agent diffusion performance and be conducive to better coloring of toner so as to achieve the color matching effect of bright color and uniform color as far as possible.
5. Other Requirements
Some toy products have high requirements for stretch and tear resistance, others have good requirements for resilience, etc. In short, the most suitable TPE materials should be provided according to the specific requirements of customers.
